Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island Cruise + Immigration Museum
When in New York, a great way to appreciate the scale of the city and avoid crowds is to take a boat cruise. Students can see the famous skyline and get to know the layout of Manhattan with excellent photo opportunities. The Full Island Cruise takes in over 100 landmarks including the Statue of Liberty and Yankee Stadium and lasts 2-3 hours.
Ground Zero Memorial and Museum
A poignant reminder of the 9/11 devastation and an inspiring testimony by citizens to honour those who died. Twin reflecting pools and manmade waterfalls mark the spot where the Twin Towers stood, with the names of everyone lost inscribed into bronze panels around the outside.

The art-deco architectural design of this sky scraper has made it an impressive monument to the modern American world and since 9/11, it is once again the tallest building in New York.

- 3D Space Films (“Journey to Space” and “A Beautiful Planet”) Astronaut Encounter, Rocket Garden, Journey To Mars: Explorers Wanted, Space Shuttle Atlantis, Shuttle Launch Experience
- Explore Tour – This tour will allow you to tour launch areas with an expert guide. Stops include: a closest viewing of the space shuttle launch pads, Kennedy Space Center industrial area, a panoramic view of the launch pads from the NASA Causeway and a stop outside the Vehicle Assembly Building.
- Launch Control Center Tour – This tour will allow you to tour inside Firing Room 4, one of the LCC’s four firing rooms and the one from which all 21 shuttle launches since 2006 were controlled. Pass by the consoles at which engineers monitored the computerized launch control system’s thousands of system checks every minute leading up to launch. See the main launch countdown clock and enter the “Bubble Room,” with its wall of interior windows.
- Private Astronaut Training Experience (PATX): Allows you to hear first-hand from a veteran NASA astronaut! Experience a space shuttle mission simulation and perform hands-on space exploration activities.
- Space Explorers Adventure (SEA): This adventure provides unique educational experiences such as working as a team on a mock space mission in a life-sized replica of a space shuttle and training on a shuttle landing simulator similar to the ones used by NASA astronauts. Students also experience authentic space training using the Multi-Axis Trainer simulating the disorientation felt in a tumble spin during reentry into the Earth’s atmosphere. Using the micro-gravity wall, students experience how the human body adapts and moves in the unique environment of space. The Trajectory Chair simulator combines concepts such as the Coriolis Effect. The ground-breaking National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Science on a Sphere presentation, along with thought-provoking science demonstrations, help students understand the most challenging science concepts.
