HISTORY & CLASSICS

Investigate Austria’s involvement in World War II including Vienna’s role as the provincial capital of the German Reich. Artifacts from WWII can still be seen in the older sections of Vienna including memorial plaques on buildings and concrete towers that were used as control towers to combat air raids.

MUSIC & PERFORMANCE

Take your group on a music tour to Austria to explore some of the most important sites in classical music. Haydn and Mozart were two of the most important, prolific and prominent composers of the Classical music period.  Mozart was born in Salzburg and later moved to Vienna.  Explore the surroundings in which these composers lived, worked and gathered inspiration for their timeless compositions.

Vienna Opera House

Origins of the Vienna Opera House date back to the 18th century.  It is equipped with a subtitle system that makes it possible to read the libretto in several different languages during a performances.

Mozart’s Birthplace

The building where the celebrated composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born not houses a museum featuring three exhibitions.

Schonbrunn Castle

During the reign of Maria Theresa, Schonbrunn was the summer residence of the court.  It was e=here that Mozart, aged six, impressed the Empress and her guests with his prodigious talent.

Sample Itinerary

Day 1 – AUSTRALIA – SINGAPORE – LONDON

  • Depart Australia for an overnight flight to Vienna via Singapore and London

Day 2 – LONDON – VIENNA

  • Arrive in London – Depart
  • Arrive in Vienna
  • Meet with your tour representative to transfer by private coach to your accommodation to check in.
  • Free time in the afternoon

Day 3 – VIENNA

  • Sightseeing:
    • Schoenbrunn
    • Spanische Reitschule
    • Mozarthaus
    • Coffeeshop and stroll by the Danube
  • Stephansdom – visit at night + church service at night

Day 4 – VIENNA

  • Sightseeing:
    • Museum of Fine Art:  The Museum of Fine Arts was built from 1872 to 1891 and it ranks among the richest and most important art collections in the world.
    • Belvedere Castle: The Belvedere’s two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, were built in the 18th century. The palaces with their extensive gardens are considered to be one of the world’s finest Baroque landmarks.
    • The Imperial Palace: The Vienna Hofburg is a must for anyone wanting to explore the world of the Habsburgs. Until 1918 the extensive palatial complex at the heart of Vienna was the political centre of the monarchy and today it is fulfills the same role for the Democratic Republic of Austria.

Day 5 – VIENNA

  • Sightseeing:
    • Day trip: Mountain hike for a day (to be arranged by the group)
  • Special dinner + concert

Day 6 – VIENNA & HALLSTATT (3hours) & SALBURG (1hour)

  • Transfer by coach
  • Sightseeing:
    • Hallstatt World Heritage Museum
    • Hallstatt Pfarrkirche (Beinhaus chapel)
    • Dachstein Rieseneishöhle
    • Lake swim

Day 7 – SALBURG

  • Sightseeing:
    • Guided walking tour of Salzburg
    • Fortress Hohensalzburg
    • The Salzburg Festival

Day 8 – SALBURG

  • Breakfast at hotel or local restaurant
  • Sightseeing:
    • Salzbergwerk: Salt mines of Berchtesgaden & Hallein
    • Salzburg Cathedral: Salzburg’s Cathedral is probably the city’s most significant piece of church architecture and its ecclesiastical centre. With its magnificent façade and mighty dome it represents the most impressive early Baroque edifice in Northern Alps.
    • Museum of Natural History and Technology: The Aquarium, justifiably considered one of the most beautiful aquariums in Central Europe, is a particularly popular attraction for young and old.

Day 9 – SALZBURG – AUSTRALIA

  • Private coach transfer to Salzburg Airport for your flight home

Day 10 – OVERNIGHT ON FLIGHT

Day 11 – ARRIVE IN AUSTRALIA
